Tissot appoints Deepika Padukone as its first Indian ambassador
Celebrated in India as the “Face of a New Generation”, actress Deepika Padukone has signed an agreement with Tissot to become the brand’s ambassador in India and the “Face of Tissot” worldwide. The cooperation starts in December just after the worldwide launch of the big Bollywood movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ in which Deepika plays a leading role. This is the first time that the Swiss watch brand has chosen an Indian ambassador and underlines the importance that Tissot places on this dynamic market. Deepika is one of India’s most sought-after actresses and an international model.

Tissot appoints Deepika Padukone
Deepika is multi-talented, hard working, dynamic and always open to new ideas - characteristics that perfectly complement the world of multi-facetted, innovative Tissot. She was drawn to Tissot through her admiration of the company’s 154 years of watch making history and its international reach as the traditional Swiss watch brand with the highest volume. Tissot already enjoys great acclaim on the Indian market with its diverse, top quality collection appealing to the discerning Indian taste. This collaboration will support and grow this popularity, benefiting both parties.

As an authority on beauty and good taste, Deepika was particularly attracted to the Tissot ladies’ collection, describing these timepieces as “really the most appropriate feminine fashion accessories”. Before starting her acting and modeling career, she played badminton for India, winning state level tournaments in doubles and singles, and played state level baseball and basketball. As such she also greatly appreciates the proven sporting character of many of the Tissot watches with their leading technology and cutting-edge design.

Tissot, the ‘Innovators by Tradition’, has been pioneering craftsmanship and innovation since its foundation in 1853. Today Tissot is a member of the Swatch Group, the world’s largest watch producer and distributor. For over 154 years the company has had its home in the Swiss watch making town of Le Locle in the Jura mountains but now also has a presence in over 150 countries. The Tissot innovation leadership is enabled by the development of high-tech products, special materials and advanced functionality. With a broader, more versatile range of high-quality timepieces at an attractive price than any other Swiss watch brand, Tissot also expresses its commitment to ‘democratic luxury’. As official timekeeper and partner of NASCAR®, MotoGP and the World Championships of cycling, fencing and ice hockey, Tissot, committed to respecting tradition while offering gold at a silver price, underlines its core values of performance, precision and setting new standards.

Corum New Partner of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie
The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) was created in Geneva in 2005 to make the heritage and values of fine watchmaking, and its precious timepieces, more widely known across the world. The Foundation believes that fine watchmaking symbolises a culture and know-how which are embodied in exceptional products and represent a unique storehouse of history, savoir-faire, creativity and centuries-old skills from which it derives its credibility. The purpose of the Foundation is therefore to promote this culture and expertise, hand its values down to new generations and convey its ethical message.

The objectives of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie and the standards it epitomizes are in perfect harmony with the new strategy established by Corum’s current President, Michael Wunderman, and CEO, Antonio Calce; their aspiration is to reposition the brand in the luxury segment and restore its historical legitimacy. With that aim in mind, the collections are being refocussed on the four pillars represented by the Admiral’s Cup, Romulus, Golden Bridge models and the exceptional pieces. The intention is to achieve global coherence of the product with the brand image by maintaining a perfect balance between creativity and quality.

This revitalization of CORUM products consequently also involves a new strategy for the movements. “We intend to propose movements specially developed for each of the four pillars on which our product offering is now based. Each pillar will have a supplier whose profile corresponds to the exact spirit of the particular collection”, Antonio Calce explains. In parallel with this product strategy, CORUM is rebuilding its distribution network by reducing the number of points of sale across the world, appointing regional managers and establishing more sustainable relations with its distributors.

The new Admiral’s Cup collection has already been designed with this coherent approach in mind. Corum will be exhibiting a model from this collection, its latest Admiral’s Cup Challenge 44 chronograph, from 7 to 9 December in Paris, on the occasion of the first edition of “Belles Montres”, at the Salon International de l’Horlogerie de Prestige in the unique setting of the Carrousel du Louvre. Here, the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie will be presenting for the first time in Paris its mission and activities through a unique exhibition entitled: “The chronograph, an expression of our modern times”.

This will be an opportunity for Corum, as a partner brand of the FHH, to present itself to a large audience who will be able to discover a world habitually reserved for a privileged clientele or devotees of fine luxury watchmaking.

Corum is an independent family-owned company producing high quality Swiss watches since 1955.

Steinway & Sons is one of the most famous piano manufactures. They are making these high-end instruments since 1853. A watch that carries this name needs to be very sophisticated.

Fabrizio Cavalca was the reason Steinway & Sons to consider to give their name for a wristwatch. He crosses the music and watch world. There are automatic and diamond set models of the Steinway watches available. The dial features a grand piano sound board shape in either 18k white gold, yellow gold or 18kt red gold (depending on case) with 12 hand-fitted strings.

The quartz movement of the ladies diamond set models allows for a smaller and thinner case and the 140 scintillating diamonds on its soundboard bring the watch alive with brilliant sparkles of light.

The Swiss automatic movement is a customised ETA 2000 - a movement also used by Cartier in some of their wristwatches - and while it may be expected that the majority of clients for these timepieces will be more interested in the brand and case and dial design rather than the calibre within, turning the watch over reveals an intriguingly gilded-black rotor and bridge.

At the advent of the 20th century, American watchmakers dominated the field, producing watches of superior craftsmanship, reliability and simplicity. 100 years later, the Montana Watch Company has re-established this commitment to quality with a truly unique American timepiece. The Montana Watch Company is committed to the time-honoured values of craftsmanship and handcrafts each timepiece in Livingstone, Montana.

Montana maintains a small inventory of watches but also undertakes private commisions - built to order as designed as you wish. The picture shows The Colt model; each case is machined from solid stock, grade 2 titanium, and engraved in the Western single-point style. The chiselled scrollwork is then dovetailed with a technique known as "back-cutting". 24K gold wire is pounded into the grooves with classic inlay relief. The case is finished by hand with emory and cloth polished. The case is carefully torched until it takes on the vintage gun-blue colour, then quenched in an oil bath for the final finish.

In the words of the Montana watchmaker: "From the halls of the governor's mansion to the wrists of local area ranchers, from the conference rooms of New York to the Hollywood hills, it is our mission to rekindle the spirit of the West and produce high quality American timepieces".

The second OMEGA limited edition model commemorating next year’s Olympic Games in Beijing will be launched on 25 October 2007, 288 days before the Opening Ceremony. The collection, based on the phenomenally successful OMEGA De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph Ladies’, comes in three colours alluding to the Olympic podium: yellow gold, white gold and red gold.

OMEGA and the Olympic Games have been inextricably linked for the past 75 years, ever since the famous Swiss watch company became Official Timekeeper to the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Next year will be the 23rd time OMEGA has taken on that responsibility, a tribute to its precision and reliability.
Now, in honour of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, OMEGA is unveiling a special collection of watches for distribution in China and certain selected OMEGA stores worldwide. The theme for OMEGA’s new collection revolves around the number “8”, considered a lucky one in China.

The collection was launched on 8 August this year with the Constellation limited edition, and following the launch of the three gold ladies’ De Ville chronographs there will be subsequent limited edition launches 188 days, 88 days and eight days before the Games, with the sixth and final launch on the day the Olympic Games begin, 08/08/2008. The number of models available in each limited edition varies, but the figure will always end in an “8”. Thus 288 of the new De Ville ladies’ watches have been made in each of the three colours.

Along with the white mother-of-pearl dial and alligator strap, the fundamental characteristics of the OMEGA De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph Ladies’ are all there: the 0.08-carat diamond briolette set on the crown; the polished 18-carat gold bezel set with 42 diamonds; the elliptical chronograph counters; the 35mm case; and the exclusive OMEGA Calibre 3313 with Co-Axial escapement.

But of course it is the differences that make this model part of the Beijing Collection. Whether yellow gold, white gold or red gold, each has 18-carat gold dial and hands to match the case; the hour markers are set with one, two or three diamonds; and there are gold outer rings on the counters and white Super-LumiNova on the hands. On the counterweight of the chronograph seconds hand are the five Olympic rings, while stamped on the caseback is the Beijing 2008 logo – both characteristics common to all six of the OMEGA Olympic Collection limited edition lines.

The third in the series, a special piece from OMEGA’s celebrated Seamaster collection, will be launched on 2 February 2008, 188 days before the Games.

jewellery watch“Magic Hour”.
Three ways to be worn, three styles to be shown, three moods to be expressed… the destiny of this magical and unique watch is to tell the story of our feminine inspirations.

For the very first time, thanks to an invisible mechanism developed in the secrecy of the Piaget workshops, a timepiece is endowed with the unique power to be three watches in one.

When positioned horizontally, the ellipse provides a generous dial opening with a free-spirited yet timeless style that exudes harmonious perfection. At a gentle touch, the oval swivels to take an impish break. The watch gracefully lends itself to a clever game of transformations that imbue it with a surprising and even disturbing charm. This creative model constantly hints at its original mystery. Sheer magic…
Another 45° turn and the watch reveals its diamond-set golden numerals and sparkles with dazzling radiance, transfigured into a stunning and exceptional jewellery watch: “Magic Hour”.

Thirty-six diamonds light up the opulent elliptical gem-set bezel that turns above a delicately guilloché-patterned dial.
Successively demure, unexpected or flamboyant, “Magic Hour” tunes into and reflects your changing moods. This unique model magnifies all aspects of femininity through a daringly avant-garde, elegant watch displaying inimitable creativity and proudly bearing the Piaget signature.

Magic Hour is interpreted through two variations: one on a black satin strap forming a striking contrast with the white gold case, and the other on a white satin strap softly enhancing the pink gold version.

If money permits, one of the most important accessories is perhaps a luxury watch. Luxury watches aren’t just functional, they are also a wonderful addition to your wardrobe.

For quite a long time, luxury watches have been recognized as a symbol of a person’s success. Brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Patek Philippe, TAG Heuer, and also others seem to demand instant respect and admiration.

Although the primary purpose of luxury watches is to tell the time, more and more of today’s styles offer wonderful, additional benefits. For example, some serve as two-way radios, small computers, or even as a display for your position on earth using GPS technology. It is amazing to think how sophisticated the capabilities are on luxury watches.

While many watches have increased their capabilities, some have opted to go above and beyond the latest technology to offer something more—time pieces that are built to last a lifetime. Of course, these premier watches are known as luxury watches.

Before you purchase a luxury watch, there are a few things you should know. Once you do, you should have no problem choosing the luxury watch that is right for you.

When it comes time for you to shop for a luxury watch, it is important to know the difference between an automatic watch that doesn’t run on batteries, and a quartz watch that does.

An automatic watch runs by the physical movement of the wearer’s wrist. It means that if it isn’t worn for a period of time, it will stop ticking. Shaking it will, however, bring it back to life.

A quartz watch uses batteries and is usually less expensive than an automatic.

Next you must compare caliber automatic watches to standard automatic watches. Automatic luxury watches function without the use of batteries, but after a while the time will be slightly off. A caliber automatic luxury watch is able to provide better precision.

For example, after a standard automatic luxury watch is worn for a month, it will typically be off by 12 minutes, while a caliber36 automatic will be off by only 2 minutes.

In addition, a standard automatic, if stored, will run for 36 days before it stops ticking, while a caliber 36 automatic will run for 50 days. Of course, the higher the watch quality, the higher the price.

Lastly, choose a watch that fits your personality. There are so many luxury watches available today, it can be very overwhelming trying to choose which will best meet your needs.

Each brands tend to specialize in certain areas of timekeeping. For example, A TAG Heuer is known for its accuracy in the sports world, especially when it comes to gold and auto-racing.

In fact, Tiger Woods, a well-known professional golfer, has helped the company to design the Link Tiger Woods Limited Edition luxury watch, his own signature. It was designed for golfers who prefer to wear a lighter watch on the golf course.

Now that you know what to look for, you can easily narrow down what type fits your needs from the various type of luxury watches available.
